Festive flowers for December

When you think of the month December you think of Christmas.  The flower of the month is; or multiple flowers we have to say, are FESTIVE FLOWERS; amaryllis, orchid and lisianthus.

We think the Fower Council couldn’t pick a more appropriate set of flowers for the December months! All these Flowers are festive, colourful and fit great in all festive December decorations!

The amaryllis’s is perfect for Christmas table decorations. The fabulous velvet look of the petals is very unusual. The available colours are; white, red, yellow, pink, salmon, purple, orange or bicoloured. The lisianthus is originally summer flowers that grow in desert riverbeds and in prairie regions. Through the great work of Dutch growers, the lisianthus now has a year-round availability. This makes them a lovely addition to your Christmas assortment.

Orchids are a collective name for many species; there are even more than 25.000 different ones! Commercially only the tropical beauties are grown and are the most common ones known by consumers. For example the butterfly-like Phalaenopsis, the vamp Vanda, the slender Cymbidium or the Venus slipper (Paphiopedilum – pronounced ‘pa-fee-oh-ped-il-um’).

The festive flowers are also perfect as a Christmas gift. The amaryllis stands for friendship and affection. The lisianthus represents appreciation, gratitude and charisma. The orchid marks pure friendship.

You can order these fantastic flowers directly from Dutch master growers, through our webshop!
